The Beauty of Firsts

The first breath outside of the womb, the first cry, the first smile, the first cuddles, the first kiss, first steps, first giggles, first hugs, first words...the beauty of the world of firsts. It's a beauty and a miracle. When I think about the first moments with my daughters I am always taken back to when I felt their first kick in the womb and then when I first held them after birth. It's an overwhelming joy and calm - holding them my arms and their sudden calm of knowing that they are home, they are safe, they are loved.

Having the wonderful opportunity to photograph newborns with their loved ones has been a great blessing. It is beautiful to see these lovely children being loved and the joy and smiles they bring to their families is enchanting. One thing in particular that I enjoy is hearing the story of first from their parents and how excited they are for the future firsts.

The first time being held. It's incredible that after laboring the moment you hold your baby there is a release of oxytocin to bring healing, joy, love, comfort. And isn't incredible how big the baby actually is? I was amazed at how my baby girls were so big, how did they fit in the womb?! I am in awe at the whole thing. Seeing these little ones not only grow in the womb but sprout outside of the womb. Seeing them interact with their siblings and loved ones. Showcasing their personality each day as they grow. It's all so incredible.

I want to share this love, bond, and beauty first with providing families with a photo session with their newborns. With that being said, I had the great pleasure of photographing little Ms. Maple and her beautiful mother as one of my first newborn sessions.

Ms. Maple is so sweet. Once she fell asleep we began the photos making sure she was content and comfortable throughout the whole session.

A mother's love. Being able to photograph Maple and her mother in this newborn session was a great blessing.

A mother's love

Along with some solo baby photos, we did mommy and me photos. I find these moments to be so precious. I want to capture the bond and connection between mother and child.

Thank you Ms. Maple for being one of my first little models and allowing me to capture your beautiful, loving bond with your mommy.
